Your guide in Barcelona is Mark Meesen. He has been living and working in the city for 20 years. He is fluent in Catalan and Spanish (and in English of course) and knows Barcelona like the back of his hand.
MeetMyBarcelona isn’t a “tour factory”. Mark personally guides every single tour, no random freelancers. With only 4 or 5 tours per month, Mark keeps things high-quality, unhurried, personal, friendly and kind.
When you book your tour, you’ll receive Insider Tips PDF for Barcelona restaurants and attractions. It’s everything you need to make your trip unforgettable. And if you want, we gladly help you fine-tune your travel plans before you arrive.
Hi! I’m Mark Meesen, I’ve been living in Barcelona for 20 years now. Before moving here, I studied Sociology and Economic Policy at the University of Leuven and European Studies at the University of Louvain-la-Neuve, and I worked as a political advisor in the Belgian Parliament. Here in Barcelona, I run a travel company called Nessout, and in my spare time, I love showing visitors around my city. Barcelona has been my home for two decades, and I can’t wait to share it with you.
Absolutely! The tour can take place on any day of the year. Just tell me the date that works best for you, and I’ll do my very best to make it happen. Barcelona is beautiful all year round, so there’s never a bad time to explore it!
Since it’s a private tour, we decide the start time together. Morning or afternoon – whatever fits your schedule best.
Around 3 hours – sometimes a little more if we’re having too much fun 😉
If you have plans right after the tour, just let me know and I’ll make sure we’re back in time.
We usually start at Plaça Catalunya, Barcelona’s central square.
But if your hotel or apartment is more convenient as a meeting point, I’m happy to start there instead. Flexibility is part of the deal!
Halfway through the tour we take a little break in an authentic local tapas bar for an appetizer.
You’ll get three pintxos (delicious small bites on bread) and a drink of your choice – all included in the price. A perfect moment to relax and chat!

Nope, it’s just you and your group! No strangers joining in. That means the private tour is fully adapted to your interests, rhythm, and mood. 100% private and personal.
Not at all! We take things easy: a short walk (about 30 minutes) and then an easy bike ride on flat roads. Lots of breaks, stories, and photo stops. We even have a tapas break in between, so don’t worry, it’s not a workout.
The walking part is around half an hour, nice and relaxed. The biking part takes about 2.5 hours, covering roughly 8 km on flat terrain with frequent stops. You’ll hardly notice the distance, there’s too much to see!
Yes, absolutely. We only ride in safe areas: quiet streets, parks, along the beach promenade.
Whenever there’s traffic, we stick to bike lanes. Your safety and comfort are top priority!
A mix of both! You’ll discover the secret corners most tourists miss, and a few must-sees. We don’t visit Gaudí sites like the Sagrada Família, those are easy to find on your own. But I’ll share insider tips on where to buy tickets and when to go to avoid the crowds.
Of course! When you book, you’ll receive an Insider Tips PDF full of local restaurant suggestions, activities, and things to do. And if you need more help later on, you just send us a message. Mark is a local, and knows this city inside out. Happy to share our favorites with you!
